| - I love XI. I haven't had the same problems with customer service as some of the other reviewers seem to have had, but I'm very shy and don't usually ask for assistance and will just do it myself, so many of the reviews don't really apply to my personal situation.
What I do have a problem with is the store is often dirty and many of the clothes are stained or torn, even unwearable, just from people trying them on and throwing them around the store. You can't beat the prices, but the quality of the clothing shows. I change my wardrobe often enough that I don't need any particular piece to last that long, but the quality is inconsistent. I have items I've had for years, machine washed and dried, etc and they're fine. But then I have pieces that were destroyed after the first wash so I never know how many uses I will get out of something when I buy it, which makes it hard to commit to a purchase for me. I like cheap clothes, since I update my wardrobe so often, but I don't like to feel like I've wasted money when something is ruined before I even wear it.
I'd say the clothing is mostly club wear and very casual summer wear. Stuff you have to be a size 0 to fit in perfectly. Only a small portion of the items available are more modest or work appropriate, which is again something that I feel is inconsistent as I have a more modest style. I like cardigans and sleeves and longer skirts that cover my bum. All of which Xi has, but you really have to look. I find myself hitting every square inch of the store when I go, and on a good trip I will get maybe $100-$120 in items there, other times I leave with a cardigan and nothing else.
So if you have a tight budget I say go for it as long as you understand that the clothing will either be very high maintenance to wash and dry, or it may not last long.
If you have the budget available, there are other stores nearby that aren't that much more expensive and will give you the quality you need without breaking the bank (old navy, charming Charlie's, etc.)
