This was the worst event experience I have ever encountered in my life. Period. If you're going to try to catch a game here, you either need to arrive two hours early or take Uber. Seriously.
All told, I probably go to around 12-15 major sporting events a year. I have a fair bit of experience. Prior to my trip to El Diablo Stadium, I would consider my excursion to Candlestick Park circa 2012 to be my worst stadium experience ever. At least I got to see that game in is entirety.
I spent over an hour looking for parking. The people who were being paid to assist people looking for parking spots were completely clueless. I drove in circles. All of the main lots were full. No one knew what was going on. It was complete chaos. It was almost exactly like Candlestick except on a much smaller scale. Except, when I went to Candlestick, at least I got to see the game.
After driving around for about an hour, I realized that I had not only missed the first pitch, but the distance I would have to walk to get to the stadium after parking in the spot that I hadn't found yet would make me miss at least the first 2-3 innings.
I went home. And now, I would sure like to be reimbursed for the price I paid for the ticket. I've been to a lot of sporting events in my life, and I've never experienced anything like this.
This would have been my sixth spring training stadium. It's the only one of the six where there is no way in hell I will ever try to return. What a mess.
Angels: You need a new facility.
City of Tempe: You need to condemn this corner of the Broadway Bend and raze this mess to the ground. Start over, because what you have right now is broken.
