| - This was my fourth time to this salon, first time having any issue. I went in the other day to get my hair straightened. It started with me asking to have my hair shampooed twice before straightening, because I like my hair to be super clean and to get all product build up off. Pretty standard salon stuff. I was told this would be $5 extra; never was before but I need it, cool. Do it.
After my hair is washed, hair washer girl tells behind the desk girls to put the $5 on my bill. Behind the desk girl #1 gives a little giggle and says "I would never pay $5 to have someone wash my hair but okay" I wasn't looking at the desk when it was said so I'm not sure which one was #1 and which was #2 but they both had hair that hung less than 3 inches from their ears and looked like uncooked noodles. So if YOU don't need something, YOU don't pay for it. I don't need my hair hot combed but I'm sure as hell glad they exist for people that do. Also, don't charge me for it then - glad we agree that it's a dumb charge angel hair.
If that was the only complaint I probably wouldn't have written a review, but hair washer girl (I'm still gonna call her that because the only thing she did right was wash my hair) proceeds to blow dry my hair and not use any other heat for it. Never in my life has any hair dresser looked at my hair and thought she could attack it with a blow dryer only. My 100% white mother straight irons her STRAIGHT hair after blowing it out. My bf was laughing at my hair before I got out of the chair.
Once I looked in the mirror I asked the girl if she was going to put an iron to it because I've never gotten a blow out without using one. Her response was oh I thought we were trying to keep it healthy so we weren't going to put heat on it. WHY, would I come get a blow out to not leave with the desired style because it wasn't good for my hair. Not only that, but we had NEVER had a conversation about my hairs health. I mentioned it hadnt been straightened in 3 months. Didn't mention why.
Whatever. She straightened a few pieces and I swear they got bigger. So I just said okay and went to pay .......... They tried to charge me $10 more than I had ever been charged for having "thick" hair. If you wanna rip me off you're gonna have to actually be able to STRAIGHTEN said hair. And let me know you'll be charging me a different amount than the service I selected BEFORE the service. The girl who tried to charge me the extra amount was the same girl who charged me last time and said I could come in 2 more times at the same groupon price. Must have been something in the water. (Not the water used to wash my hair twice for $5 - cuz I was fine)
After the total was changed, I paid and walked out the door. From the door to my car my hair had attempted a moon landing. I couldn't even see my part anymore. So I went back in and had someone else go over it all with a flat iron. Then I went home and still had to do my own hair.
Vegas is expensive and some of these blow out places charge $100 for the most basic style - so this is a good cheap alternative (especially with a groupon, especially especially with a groupon discount) the blow out I'm complaining about cost me like $25 ... so there's that. Not worth it to have to turn around and do the work myself though.
