| - I have stayed here before and would have given this Knights Inn 3-4 stars. Basic, but clean, convenient and affordable. Unfortunately, my stay two weeks ago causes me to leave a poor review. I will post this review, then attempt to upload photos of the bedbug bites I suffered during my stay. (Yes, I can tell you with certainty that they are bedbug bites, as I was examined by a dermatologist. I am still ravaged by these bites, even though I am applying medication the doctor told me to.)
The first room the gal put me in had a terrible odor (urine? mold?) and there were large (2'x2') chunks of the flooring missing, so I had her move me to another room. It seemed ok at first.
The door to the room had a large gap around it, so the room was exceptionally warm during my stay (Phoenix in August), as the a/c unit couldn't keep up.
I saw management physically chase someone off the property. I saw a police cruiser come to the property to deal with a situation.
When I opened the refrigerator, which was not working well enough to use, there was a live cockroach inside.
A motel employee tried to enter my room at midnight, apparently to show the room to another guest 'cause their computer didn't tell them I had been given the room. I refused to let the employee in or open the door, even though the employee was SCREAMING at me to open the door. I finally had to use a choice word and tell the stupid employee that I was RENTING the room. Apparently the employee thought I was a squatter or something.
At checkout, I raised these issues to the woman at the front desk and all she could say was, "...don't tell me that...," but never offered a billing concession or a real apology.
A reviewer on another site hit the nail on the head when terming this Knights Inn "unsavory."
I wish I could stay here again, as it's close to the business I do in the Phoenix area, but my bedbug experience and everything else = I will look elsewhere. I travel the country by car and have stayed in plenty of clean, well maintained, inexpensive motels that their owners obviously take pride in keeping up. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this particular Knights Inn, as there is no such upkeep taking place. What a difference 7 months makes.
