| - First off, most of the people going to Brothers are not reading reviews anyway, but I came across this and decided to comment on all the other reviews.
If you're looking for underage girls, there are much better places to go. But seriously, I know people with fakes and they AVOID Brothers simply because it is one of the harder bars to get into and they will take your ID.
If you're looking for a sit-down place or a "nice" atmosphere, DO NOT go to Brothers. I've never gone to wing nights, but cheap food will certainly draw a lot of hungry college kids.
Yes, there is usually a line outside (unless it is summer or winter break). Even though it is often long, it's usually only a 10-20 min wait. Yea, it might be cold waiting outside, but that brings me to my next point:
DO NOT go to Brothers sober. Really, who goes out to any bar sober (unless you're going to a "nice" place for a date or girls night. again, see above). Pregame. Everyone else there is drunk and getting drunker. You can't beat 'em, so join 'em.
I have not seen racism. Well, once I was in line outside for 20 min and then 8 asians were just let in... maybe Yakuza, not sure. Also, brings me to another point: brush things off at Brothers.
People will bump into you, might knock into your drink, and I have seen puke in the bathroom (never anywhere else though). If you are a snobbish type person who often feels "too good" for their surroundings, DO NOT go to Brothers. You don't want to be there, and no one else wants you there.
So at this point, you might be asking: Why would I want to go to Bro's then?
Well, you won't want to every night. But I'm sure you spend most of your life being proper and courteous. At some point, you want to let loose and make a fool of yourself on the dance floor. There is almost no where to dance in Madison, but the Brother's dance floor is always packed on weekends (and sometimes weeknights).
The music is an odd mix of current pop songs, goodies from the 90s and sometimes 80s, and a lil country thrown in near closing. MOST of the songs can be sung along to (esp as closing time approaches). If you're a snobbish abstract jazz fan, stay away. If you like pop music and like dancing/singing along you'll love it.
Yes, there are sluts and some sketchy creepers on the dance floor, which is why I'd recommend going with a group. That way you can have fun dancing with your friends without being bothered by every guy who feels the need to compensate for his small... well, I digress. Point is, go with friends and have fun. (And if you WANT to go home with a random guy/girl, it won't be hard to spot that not-so-special someone). I don't go to Brother's looking for my future wife.
I am 25 now, and I do like going to nicer places or finding a good band to check out. But sometimes, I just want to get drunk and have a fun time with friends dancing like an idiot. Brother's is the place for that.
