| - This is my first review. Normally I'm cool with places that have less than stellar service; people have bad days, things don't go right, etc. However, Horizon Home Health has had consistently bad service since the get go.
1. The communication as to when home visits would start was never communicated after my family member was discharged from the hospital and assigned home health. The first visit was four days after they were discharged from the hospital. A nurse called at 8pm the night before the first visit, letting us know someone would show up to tend to my family member. Great, hope we didn't have anything planned that day...
2. The second visit was a different home health nurse. They arrived 45 minutes late from the scheduled time and also didn't come with any supplies. Apparently the first nurse didn't complete paperwork and there was no work order filled for my family member, so no home health was performed and they did nothing but talk on their phone trying to understand the situation with their patient and office. "Our system is updating..." was the excuse.
3. Staff is consistently late. 45 minutes tends to be the usual time they show up. Scheduled at 9, expect them at 10ish...maybe.
4. Our insurance allotted us 7 home health visits, but they didn't show up at all for one, but still counted it towards the 7. They also counted the 2nd visit in which nothing was done for my family member in terms of providing health care.
5. Trying to be discharged is a pain. There is no communication between their office and their field nurses. We received a phone call saying that we would be discharged, again, not receiving all of our allotted visits. Several times we've been called asking to schedule a home visit by other field nurses.
If you have the opportunity to go with another Home Health Care provider, do it.
