| - I had heard and read about this place for over a year but I lived too far to ever go here, plus I am lazy when it comes to driving too. Well good news and bad news. The good news is I had a class near this place so I went there for lunch finally. The bad news? It was just okay, talk about a big let down.
First, the good is the excellent atmosphere. The place is just beautiful and the setting is in a nice and quiet neighborhood that you never thought is Phoenix. Luckily the weather is gorgeous at this time of year and the servers were very nice. You just can't beat the atmosphere, it is a great place to take out of town guest to impress just make sure they don't expect the same from the food.
The food, Now to be fair, I do not know where all these wood buring or what I call rustic pizza craze is coming from. From grimaldis to lagrande orange to other places like these, their crust are just awful from my point of view. I use to live in Chicago and those were real crust that you can actually see and taste and feel the textures in your mouth from the buttery thick crust to the crispy and light thin crust. All I can ever feel are just the toppings, the crust is paper thin with no texture or taste. Please the outside crust don't count, who eats that with the ingredients huh? Well all I can say is that if it is thin crust, it should be nice and crispy, not barely able to hold up the pizza that you have to eat it with a fork.
I have to say their ingredients is top notch and the salami was excellent on the Davoda pizza. Else everything was alright, the sauce was good, but not the best I have had by far. Beside that there is nothing to judge off really in a pizza, crust, toppings and sauce really is all. It was average, but again, next time that I have outside visitors from out of state, definitely taking them here to enjoy the atmosphere.
