Had the lunch at new zealand cafe one Saturday lunch. Sat in front of the chef at the sushi bar.
After 10 mins of studying the menu, those pictures does do a good illustration on their gigantic menu. Tuna toro not available on the date we visit.
We order nothing but nigiri. I hate rolls, especially those with all the sauces covering the rolls, that has no way to show the quality of the fish in there.
These are what we have strong comments on:
Marugai (geoduck), they gave us the tsubugai (conch).
Hotate (scallop) was yellowish in color and dried.
Uni was bitter and brownish in color, very fishy smell. (That indicates how long it has been sitting in their cooler)
Others are not memorable, but overall is below average in freshness.
The waitress (owner) shows no interests in talking or having eye contact with customers. Had yelled at the wait staffs couple of times.
The whole experience should warrant a 2 or 3 stars review.
But, the worst part was I had the diarrhea in the next two days.
I wish there is one decent quality sushi place in Union county.
