  • This area of the Phoenix Preserve's most important feature is that it houses a parking lot so you can actually park close to where you are going to hike or bike. I love the Phoenix Mountain Preserve as it has a variety of different adventure areas that vary from easy to stimulatingly refreshing. The Dreamy Draw area is a great starting off point as there is almost always enough room for all the cars. Once you get started you have many choices, most of which end up high above the 51 and in relative peace and quiet. Just watch out for the crazily insane cyclists who manage to cycle up and over almost anything. Unfortunately, much of the area close to the parking lot is closed due to revegetation. However, as you get further from civilization there are more areas that allow you to explore. Don't expect to see much wildlife, except the two-legged kind. If you do see anything with four or more legs, remember that some wildlife does not agree with us. Carry a big stick and be aware of your surroundings. Have a fun time here in the middle of a big city.
