| - I couldn't believe there existed a restaurant with 200+ reviews and 5 stars so I had to check this place out. Of course I decided to do this on one of coldest days of this year. Despite the tiny space, the guys working there made me feel at home. With so many options to decide, my friend and I got all the options we wanted: jamon serrano, the meat and veggie empanada, gaucho papas, and rosemary braised beef sandwich.
My description of the food will never give it justice. I highly highly recommend the jamon serrano. All the components of the dish was picked out carefully to complement each other. I even took the left over goat cheese and picked onions and added to the rosemary braised beef sandwich. If you don't have time to sit down, the sandwich is your best option. Hearty and satisfying, it can even satiate a caveman. The meat and veggie emapanadas were seasoned well and the emapanada dough was flakey and buttery. I preferred the steak but I am also a meat lover so my preference is biased. The gaucho papas weren't anything special but served as a nice accompaniment to our meal.
I think their sauces deserve a separate paragraph. One of their workers explained to me the ingredients in all of the four sauces. Their main ingredients for each are: onion, parsley, onion, and red pepper. The chimirri (parsley based sauced) was my favorite for it's potent flavor followed by the garlic, red pepper, and onion. Their sauces are great companions for any of the dishes. I personally enjoyed the chimirri with the bread and red pepper sauce for the potatoes.
Gaucho not only serves awesome food but is one of the few restaurants that have excellent service. The workers truly looked like they enjoyed their job and even offered my friend and I to warm ourselves up by their grill. Their antics along with the food makes Gaucho a must stop. You know I'll be there again!
