| - We hadn't been down to the Golden Nugget for awhile and so we decided to head over and have dinner at the Grotto.
We were quite surprised how busy the whole place was for a Sunday night, Good for the hotels bottom line, but it was just too busy and a bit too noisy for our liking.
We were seated fairly quickly, (we'd made a reservation) and the hostess was pleasant and provided good service.
It took a bit of a wait for our waitress Carol to get around to us, but when she did, she provided good, friendly and courteous professional service.
The only negative we experienced is that my wife found her dish the Mahi, to be a bit off putting since we hadn't paid attention to the description on the menu. We called over Neil the manager on duty and he explained the fish was wrapped in angel hair pasta. (Who ever thought up that idea in our view has a screw loose! It made the fish yucky to look at and taste). Neil kindly offered to make up a new order without the pasta and it came back perfect. Much nicer to have a nice piece of fish cooked simply with sauce rather than some sort of pasta concoction wrapping it. With the pasta it covered the quality of the fish, without it the fish was quite nice and very well done.
Neil, also offered us a comped dessert which we took him up on after we spent some time in the casino. The tiramisu was yummy and Neil came by and greeted us again, which was quite nice.
Overall, I'd rate our whole experience a B+ on a grading scale. Quite pleasant, with some minor room for improvements.
