| - Talk about a strange place for dim sum.
My sister almost drove past the building because it is in fact in banquet hall. The main banquet hall is where they serve dim sum. It's actually quite nicely decorated, with purple and white drapes hanging from the ceiling and a crystal chandelier, but a bit out of place for a dim sum restaurant. However, I quickly got over that as it was actually quite nice to eat in a clean Chinese restaurant, and the washroom was also very clean and classy as well-something that you hardly ever see at a dim sum place.
We went there on a Thursday morning and there was a good amount of people there, but it wasn't packed. They have a morning special. If you place your order before 11am, you only have to pay $2.90 for any small, medium or large dish.
This dim sum place is by far the best dim sum place I have been to in Toronto in quite awhile, but again, like others have said, the dishes were a "hit or miss."
Some of their better dishes are:
1. "Zha leung" - fried dough stick wrapped in rice noodle
2. congee
3. egg tarts
4. sweet almond pastry
5. siu mai
6. BBQ pork bun
These dishes could be skipped:
1. turnip cake
2. tripe
That being said, whenever I feel the craving for dim sum, I would still come here and just order the dishes I know are going to be good.
