  • This is your proverbial "special occasion" restaurant. It's the place to take someone you want to impress. You may see politicians and judges in one corner, football players in another and maybe even a socialite or two (you'll know them because they don't take their sunglasses off, either because they are too cool, or the botox hasn't settled yet) The valet parking is free, which is cool, but you don't have to use them, the parking lot is huge and you can self-park. Entering through the kitchen is a unique touch, but remember to open the door on the right to avoid bumping into a server coming the opposite way! The interior is old-school and dated, but harks back to the days of old. Red plush couches and velvet curtains. Dark wooden tables and booths. Robert was our server and he was excellent. Very personable and engaging. He knew when to come to the table and when to stay away. An awareness skill that other servers could learn. The food was very good, which is only to be expected given the history of the place, but the prices were outrageous! The shrimp cocktail was $17.50 (5 U10s or U12s), served on the rim of an oversized martini glass over cocktail sauce, just like your grandma used to make back in 1976. The crabcake app was full of meat, priced at $19.95. For entrĂ©es my gf got the salmon ($33.50) and I got the 12 oz filet ($60.50). To be fair, the entrĂ©es do include soup or salad and starch, but no sides. Robert asked us if it was our first time, and when we said it was, he bought us a dessert. That was a nice touch. The bargain of the night was the wine list. We selected a 2003 Jordan cab, which was only $63. Robert expertly decanted the wine and it tasted great. Would I go back again? Absolutely! But only if it was on an expense account or a long-lost rich uncle was picking up the tab.
