  • At $3 a piece and the most expensive cupcakes I've tried in the city- I had high hopes. Half-dozen- $17 Full dozen- $33 The cupcakes are made daily in house (recently started to at this location) with high quality ingredients no preservatives or hydrogenated oils- so that means I can eat two right? Vanilla from the far away land of Madagascar, French caramel and sprinkles- oui Monsieur, Belgian chocolate, real fruit, etc. Service is consistently good as the three times I have been here over the years- same employee. I have only seen one employee working here and have never waited more than a few minutes. The cupcakes vary significantly from bad to really good hence my average rating. I have tried the vanilla based cupcakes on two different occasions and they are bad! This talk of imported sprinkles- tasted like the ones from the Tim Hortons across the street- couldn't tell a difference in flavour profile. Since the French are so slim, I'm assuming they have weight loss powers?! AVOID: Strawberry- dense, over baked (brown on the bottom), and slightly dry. I thought I was eating a pound cake rather than a light and airy cupcake. The strawberry frosting lacked flavour even though it was infused with strawberry puree, I felt like there wasn't enough. Cookies and cream (vanilla cake with cookie crumbles topped with cookies and cream frosting)- cream cheese frosting was good however overall the base of the cake was too dense and lacked any distinct cookie flavours. TRY: Red Velvet- melts in your mouth! Cream cheese frosting always wins me over. Coconut Macaroon (coconut cake with light almond frosting with toasted coconut drizzled with chocolate)- died and gone to heaven good!! Seriously like biting into a coconut macaroon without being hit with that feeling like you've downed a bucket of sugar. The best coconut cupcake I have tried to date! Texture of the shredded coconut paired with chocolate drizzle and a light and fluffy cake- mmmm!! Dlish! No gluten free options available. Small shop with a few bar seats facing the window. As the cupcakes are not made with any nasty ingredients- refrigeration is not recommended. I would come back for the red velvet or coconut macaroon however never again will I purchase any vanilla based cakes!
