Before my recent move this was "my" Giant Eagle, the one I'd visit about once a week, nearly always on Saturdays. It was here that I'd pick up staple items, usually while redeeming manufacturer coupons, which Giant Eagle doubles up to about a dollar.
With the exception of salad greens, I'd usually fly through the produce and bakery departments on my way to the dairy department and then find whatever I needed or whatever was on sale that particular week. By the way, it's not that GE's produce and bakery are insufficient--quite the contrary, it's just that I got those things considerably cheaper at nearby Aldi.
My favorite things about this GE location are the reduced/discounted rack--it's in the corner near the restrooms and is hit or miss--and the kind-eyed gentleman with a beard at the fish counter. I buy salmon regularly, and he was always smiling and never failed to brighten my day. I also loved the $1 off and $2 off stickers on items nearing expiration; I snatch up those things to freeze and enjoy at a later time.
This GE location underwent reorganization earlier this year. The changes seem to be for the best, but because I'm a creature of habit/routine the switched-up aisles really threw me off.
Been a fan of Giant Eagle since I was a kid, and it's still my #1 grocery store.
