| - Let's start with this place is totes expensive. Okay, so now that we are all aware that this is a fancy expensive place let's break it down.
There's a cafe and a bar. There's a manicure bar, a pedicure lounge and there's a charming room where you can get your hair done. Oh wait -- you can also get facials or waxing done here too!
So I've been watching this place set up shop for some time now. I watched and waited and waited and watched. I loved every little detail I saw, in person (as I walked by or popped in, only to walk out again) or all over my social media sites. I loved the rose gold/copper and the marble. I love the atmosphere they were projecting and the feeling of true pampering (as a luxury in the midst of hip King West). But the price deterred me from booking any appointments.
And then I saw a post featuring marble nails done by Ashley Cho (a manicurist at HMP) on Instagram. And I knew in my heart of hearts I was going and I was getting this manicure done by this amazingly talented artist. Someday.
And then I got a giftcard. Still, I could not go without an occasion or something as a serious incentive. Blow that gift and manicure on nothing? C'mon! I'm not made of money here (although you would think otherwise if you knew how often I ate out!! Shhhhh!).
AND THEN HMP HAD THE HEATWAVE PROMO. They offered it in January and then extended it til February 25. If I were you, I would take advantage of this ASAP! You have to book between 11am-3pm, Mon-Thurs with the code Heatwave on services like the Signature Mani, Gel Mani, Signature Pedi, Gel Pedi, or a Blowout and you'll pay $10 less and get a free Island Cocktail.
So I went and I loved every minute of it. I had booked a Signature Mani and added on the nail art, and when I got there, I was told that to get the marble look, I would need to do a gel mani. They were pretty booked but accomodated the change for me which was wonderful. I was not told that there was a special drink included in the promo and the bartender offered me the drink menu instead. So I ordered off the menu. Upon checking out the bartender and I realized that we both made a mistake. However, my cocktail was super delicious (despite how expensive it was) and I simply paid for it without complaint. I had a great time and I found the staff to be super friendly and helpful. Everything really comes together to get you the feeling of an urban getaway (although part of that could have been that I came here between work hours).
I'd love to come back and will, although it will definitely be as a treat if I'm getting any services done. It's a great way to hang out with friends, even if you just come in for a drink or a snack from the cafe. In fact, it's also a great place to grab a drink (alcoholic or otherwise) with a date (it's just so pretty!!). HMP definitely does not give off a women only feel, and I think men would actually enjoy coming here for the start of a date.
