  • So, I am assuming this is the location I used. I'm not sure where the truck came from, but I know it said "D & D Moving" on the side, and I know it was pretty sweet. (Phone number was 440-328-8149, which doesn't match any of the existing listings here on Yelp, and I can't discern an actual address from the website, but I wonder if this is a central scheduling number, with multiple locations? Anyway. I hope this is the right place to make this post.) I should start by saying that my phone call to schedule the move was a breath of fresh air. I was scheduling this move a little bit on the late side-- and was nervous about booking some movers before the end of the month (when I had to be out of my apartment). In fact, before calling D&D (I found the company through a simple google search for 'akron movers'), I called Two Men and A Truck. I guess cute business names works on me as a marketing technique. Anyway, TMAAT were kind of rude on the phone. The person I spoke with scoffed at my move-out date, and was quite rude and not helpful. I mean, a booked schedule is a booked schedule... she didn't have to be mean about it, I would have understood. TMAAT quoted me over $100 per hour for, well... two men and a truck. On the phone to gather more information, D&D was friendly, polite, and helpful. I spoke with Derek, the owner, and he definitely took pride in his business. I explained my somewhat unconventional moving/destination situation (which I won't bore you with here), and he made creative and useful suggestions for a plan of attack. Although most of August was booked already, Derek found a slot that worked for me-- even if it was slightly later in the month than I'd hoped. Further, he quoted me $86 per hour for two men and a truck. My movers, Anthony and Matt, arrived a tad later than the 8:30 expected time, but no problem... both were professional, friendly, and polite. Not overly chatty, did not begrudge their task, and didn't use profanity. I'm not a big prude about profanity or anything-- but it's an example of how professional they were. I mean, you're inviting strange men into your home whom you've never seen before-- it was reassuring that their manners were intact. It seems like being a mover would be the worst, but Anthony and Matt had a positive attitude about it. I apologized over and over about it being an awkward moving situation-- the move out of my 1900 sq foot high rise apartment required about a quarter-mile of hallways, an elevator ride, and going UP a flight of steps to get to the loading area (don't ask). They reassured me that they didn't mind, and in fact, "we wouldn't be here if this was an easy move." Right on, guys. My move required a partial local move with their truck (to a friend's house, where a lot of my furniture will be used), and then packing our UHaul for a longer-distance move. The guys packed both trucks, and then poised my UHaul for me to make an easy exit out of my parking lot when they were done. So thoughtful! They handled my belongings with care (I have yet to unpack, but so far what I saw of them was only careful handling), and had useful advice on any dilemmas that arose. While trying to confirm which D&D Moving listing to post this review in, I found some other review sites with D&D reviews. I can't speak to the usefulness or accuracy of *those* sites that shall remain unnamed, because obviously Yelp is the best, but I saw quite a few negative reviews... I just want to let the world know that I didn't experience any problems with D&D, and in fact my expectations were exceeded.
