| - I would like to write a good review, because the idea is tremendous - being able to purchase convenient "healthy" foods vs. fast foods is an awesome idea, but I think there is much room for improvement here.
I received coupons for this store, and decided to visit. I am pre-diabetic, and attempting to avoid foods with hidden sugars. I was extremely dismayed to see that sugar is listed as an ingredient on virtually every item in the store, even those that have no reason to taste sweet. This aspect is no different than a trip to any chain grocery store.
I did end up purchasing as a buy one get on 50% off (with coupon) the Protein Pack, which contains two pieces of chicken, a handful of baby carrots, a hard boiled egg and a small container of hummus on Saturday, June 27, 2015. The "sell by" date is 7/1/15. On Monday, 6/29/15, I brought one to work for a snack. It was fine - the type of food I have been trying to eat in order to lower my blood sugar. However, on Tuesday 6/30/15, when I opened the second one, all the items (chicken, hard-boiled egg and carrots) were starting to turn slimy. I wiped them off with a napkin and was able to eat them, but this was an experience that will serve as a deterrent to my returning and purchasing this item again. And since all of the other items contain sugar in some form, I will not be a customer unless at some future point there are more items offered without sugar.
On a different note, I returned on Sunday with a friend to see whether she was interested in any of the items since I had more coupons.
She picked up a package containing salmon, and asked whether it was wild-caught or farm raised. The sales associate said, "oh, it's definitely farm raised, which is the best. I eat it all the time and really enjoy it." Seriously? Google any information on farm-raised salmon and the advice is: "avoid."
As I said before, this is an excellent idea, and I would love to see more available alternatives to fast food restaurants - I just feel that there is a lot of room for improvement here.
