Pretty good French bistro and sister restaurant of French Laundry in the Venezia Towers at the Venetian. Had 5 star potential but didn't quite make it.
Moules au Safran et la Moutarde (Maine bouchot mussels steamed in white wine, mustard & saffron - $26.50) - 5 stars. Excellent. Mussels were so fresh and broth was so tasty.
Steak Frites (a pan-seared prime flatiron served with matre d'htel butter - $34.50) - 4 stars. Was pretty good, esp due to the think layer of carmelized onions and other spices on top but the steak itself wasn't that flavorful and I asked for medium and got medium-well.
Gigot d'Agneau - (roasted leg of lamb with spring veggies, fennel dauphine - $31.00) - 4.5 stars. Lamb was super tender with only a slight gamey taste with good jus and very tasty fennel. I'm not a major lamb fan so I could have been 5 stars.
Terrine de Foie Gras de Canard (foie gras with toasted baguette $48.00) - 4.5 stars. My first time trying foie gras (pls forgive me you animal rights ppl). Came in a small 5 oz. canister under a layer of goose fat. The waiter carved off the goose fat to expose a rich delicious and generous portion of foie gras. (Of course, you are paying ~$50, so it better be generous.) It was rich and tasty and tasted even better with their special salt on top of small toasted bread pieces. Warning: this is a portion for at least 4-5 ppl to finish so it's too much for 2-3 ppl to order unless you want to take it home.
Homemade brownies with ice cream - 4.5 stars - three luscious mini brownie bites with a bit of moist chocolate inside with ice cream.
Overall service was very helpful and attentive but they did screw up a couple of things so it wasn't perfect. I asked for spinach on the side instead of fries for the steak and first they gave me green beans instead. Then they did apologize and bring out the spinach side - it was very fresh spinach in some butter but the SALTIEST thing I've ever had. We returned it and the waiter acknowledged that it was overly salty for whatever reason and apologized for that. We got a free dessert in return.
Bottom line: Pretty good French bistro with great service but a couple of food and service goofs prevent me from giving it 5 stars. And it's French bistro style so don't expect a full French menu.
