  • I am a phoenix resident and in recent years I have received numerous spa treatments at Joya, it had become is my go-to facility for Spa services. However, my recent experience left me extremely disappointed. I scheduled a massage for a Monday to take advantage of what I thought was a $95 Happy Hour promotional rate. Spa amenities and my treatment were first rate but, upon check out I was taken aback by the balance due. The amount owed was significantly greater than the $95 (plus tax and gratuity) that I was expecting. When I questioned the price, I was notified that the Happy Hour price starts at $95 and that it is a tiered price structure based on what time of day the service is performed. This was communicated as a matter of fact, unapologetically, and with a complete disregard for my concern. After returning home and revisiting the website I did confirm that it does state "starting at $95", though no further details are available, nor was there mention of a tiered price structure when the services were booked. I think this deserves attention and recommend Joya revise their web text to include more detail regarding Happy Hour pricing or at a minimum have the spa associates taking reservations be proactive in the price discussion when Happy Hour appointments are requested. The higher price would not have deterred me from booking my appointments but, I now genuinely feel mislead and troubled that my concern was completely dismissed. Given the ample choices of first class spas in the area, my recommendation to Phoenix visitors and my future spa appointments will be made elsewhere.
