  • So sad at the changes they've made. A few years back, my friend and I used to come here a couple times a week, usually after midnight. It was great because it wasn't busy, they'd space out the people playing and we could go there and bust out like 8 games in 2 hours. Better yet, on the weekdays, after midnight, it used to cost $1 per game and $1 for shoes. We'd get 2 hours of entertainment for under $20. Well, it's been a while since we've gone and we recently returned for old times sake. First off, now instead of being open 24 hours, they are only open till midnight during the week and 1 am on the weekends. We got there around 10:30 and decided to play 2 games each, plus shoe rental. I can't find the receipt, but that came to just under $20- not nearly the "deal" it used to be. There weren't a ton of people there, but they pretty much had lanes 48-60 packed with people and I could see on the other end of the alley that there were a couple of groups at lanes 1-5. I could tell from the counter that the groups toward the end were rowdy, loud, PIA drunks with several empty beer pitchers in their midst. My friend and I don't go bowling to drink or mess around- we just want to bowl a good game and kick back. So I asked the kid at the counter (very nicely, I might add) if he could please put us in an area AWAY from the loud drunks and large groups and he looks up and smiles at me. I thought this meant that he understood what we asked for- kinda like an "I feel ya man". He hands me the receipt without saying a word and I look down to see the lane number and the little prick sticks us on lane 58, right in the middle of the loud, obnoxious jack-holes. So I turn around and go back to the counter, the kid is now helping someone else and although there is another employee at the counter, he's talking with a group of friends, so he's ignoring us. Finally, the second guy breaks the convo with his friends and acknowledges us. He appears to be a manager or supervisor based on how he was dressed. I told him that we'd specifically asked to be placed in a lane away from the loud, crowded groups yet we were put right into the middle of it. He says nothing, takes my receipt, prints up a new one and hands it to me. We're now at lane 45, just 3 lanes away from the beginning of the madness. Ok, fine at least we aren't right next to anyone- I wasn't in the mood to argue. In the amount of time it takes us to put on our shoes and grab a ball, they send 2 large groups of annoying teenagers to lanes 46 and 47. These kids are of course there just to screw around so they have no "bowling etiquette" such as waiting for the person in the lane next to you to finish before going up, they were tossing the balls down the lane, making them bounce, and just generally being obnoxious, which is what we were trying to avoid. I guess I just can't wrap my head around the fact that you have 40+ lanes open and 2 people specifically requesting to be away from loud, annoying people, why you cannot just put them several lanes away- like maybe in the center? It never used to be a problem. We were so irritated that we just wanted to quickly bowl our games and get out of there. There was nothing fun or relaxing about the experience at all. The alley itself was a mess, the balls were old and beat up- probably the same ones that were there years back when we used to go and although I'm sure a lot of people like this idea, I hated it- they've made the place 100% non-smoking. It's fine to let people drink till their falling over, but god forbid there is a smoking section somewhere within the place. At any rate, we WON'T be back. Maybe I'll try Red Rock next time to urge to bowl hits me.
