  • Dr. Brar visited my home at 9pm last night for a requested, last-minute checkup on Walker, and I was never more pleased and delighted to have met a Veterinarian who doesn't try to rob my hard earned money while providing such amazing, genuine and thorough care for my 7-month old Standard Poodle. Not only was I surprised at his willingness to meet at such a late hour, I was equally surprised he was able and willing to accommodate me having only made first contact with him earlier that same day. His fees were reasonable, below what I would have paid at ANY vet clinic in the Toronto area, and his compassion and gentleness towards Walker was admirable. Arriving in a humble economy sedan, and wearing casual pants and a polo shirt, I immediately felt relaxed and comfortable, almost like it was a longtime friend stopping by for a visit. He greeted us with a warm smile and settled in to ask a series of probing questions and listened carefully to our comments and concerns. After completing a thorough exam of Walker, he briefly paused before explaining all the possible causes and scenarios with detail, where upon he presented a number of options to consider with his own recommendations rounding out the conversation. Instead of sounding the often LOUD emotional and fiscal alarms that most other vets do, he dispelled our fears, calmed our grief and anxiety, and maintained a very pragmatic approach towards the matter, and demonstrated a sincere and welcome concern for avoiding the need to quickly spend money unnecessarily. What a tremendous and refreshing difference from the typical vet clinic that is always trying to charge as much as possible on each visit as if I am personally responsible for paying their monthly rent and operating costs in one invoice for services. When mentioning the need to obtain ear drops for another of my dogs who has a mild ear irritation, he promptly handed me a bottle of ear drops from his bag, and said 'it's no charge' ...really? Does that EVER happen anymore??? Thank you Dr. Brar, you are very kind. $50 for the visit and examination, and with an injection to reduce Walkers fever, some liquid oral medicine for his stomach, and 3 pills to have with his next meal, the total bill came to $120 including taxes. Not having cash on hand, I was able to do an Interac Email Money Transfer making it even easier for me instead of using a credit card or running out to find a nearby ATM. I honestly felt like I had stepped back in time to an era that I have only witnessed on old tv shows where the kind doctor made house calls and conducted themselves like a real healthcare provider instead of a businessman trying to finance his next exotic car or vacation. Truly, Dr. Brar is cut from a different cloth, and is a different kind of breed of veterinarian practitioners, and sets a new standard in animal healthcare that I believe traditional vets need to follow, or be concerned about. Thank you Dr. Brar, you have made a lasting impression.
