I got ICL surgery done here since my prescription is so high (-8) and my cornea was too thin for LASIK or PRK. I'm pretty active and it's nice not to have to deal with contacts while camping and traveling. When I first moved to AZ 3 years ago I went in for a free consult, but at the time I wasn't ready to commit and wanted some second opinions. I went back this summer and paid for it with my FSA and out of pocket and I had to pay for the consultation this time. There are several people that you deal with when committing to the surgery and one of them is the patient counselor and scheduling coordinator who goes over appointments, fees, and payments with you. There were several pre-op appointments with technicians and doctors and I also needed an extra $200 retina evaluation consult for the go ahead. They were good about scheduling the appointments around our honeymoon in the summer. Dr. Perkins performed the surgery for both eyes and he was available to answer any questions. He definitely knows what he's doing and has great bed side manner. There were no issues except that in my left eye the lens needed to be repositioned so that caused some pain and corneal swelling for a week after and my left eye vision was blurry. They had me go back in 3 hours after the surgery for more eye drops and to check up on why I felt nauseated and in some pain. It's been about 2 weeks now and I've just been going back for weekly check ups with Dr. Schiff to monitor my eye pressure and I can see clearly out of both eyes.
