| rev:text | This is the first time I've been to this location (went to the Glendale one twice) and they are both 5/5! Haven't had anything bad from either location. Street tacos were great (chicken was super tender and could be cut with a fork) and the mole had the right combination of smoky and chocolately taste. Salsa bar is also one of the best I've ever seen - my personal favorite is the pecan salsa. The cilantro salsa is a close second, which is funny because I normally HATE the taste of fresh cilantro. I've also ordered the El Gaucho queso, which is basically like a big Mexican calzone. Steak was prepared well and tender and the outside shell was perfectly crisp on the outside.
As good as the food is, I have to say the horchata was my favorite item. It's a little different from your normal horchata as it contains walnuts, strawberries, and a healthy dollop of cinnamon on top. It seemed strange at first, but it works!!
Prices were very reasonable too (4 street tacos, steak queso, and a horchata all for $24). The restaurant is small and unassuming, and is the kind of place you would easily miss if you weren't looking for it. Also, it's pretty small and cramped in there, but when the food and drinks are this good, who's noticing that? Sure, this place may not be the most authentic Mexican restaurant (mostly gringoes up in here) but it is still one of my favorite restaurants in the area since moving to Arizona two months ago! |
