  • My family and I were tenants to a property managed by McKenna for almost 4 years. I'll state the pros and cons from our point of view. When renting, I always keep in mind that this is a business and property managers are pretty much middle men. With that being said, McKenna did a great job addressing property issues. Maintenance request were addressed promptly and there was always communication. I only had one small issue when the A/C went out in the middle of the Summer (during the weekend) and McKenna utilized a third party to address calls. They were awful, but Ms. McKenna herself returned an email with concerns and addressed everything professionally. The maintenance people who would come out were always professional and I really don't have anything negative regarding the management side of the property. The Cons are pretty much on the financial side. The rent did go up every year and there is a fee associated with each lease renewal. If you mess up on EFT/Online payments (no matter the cause) be prepared for a huge headache. They will not allow you to pay online at all, even if it's a Visa/MasterCard. You have to physically drive to the office and drop off a money order or cashiers check for a total of 6 consecutive months. They don't accept cash or checks during those months either. So there is no other option to pay rent for people who are constantly on the move (like myself). That was a nightmare for me and the front secretary had a horrible attitude. Last and final thing is the mighty deposit. After almost 4 years and normal wear/tear, we moved into a bigger home. I was not expecting my full deposit at all but there were some questionable items. We had our own washer and when we moved, we asked our handy man to place the property washer back in its place. They charged me $25 to connect the hose. A garage remote was $95 and they did charge to repaint the inside of the house. I've never had a property manager charge me as a tenant to repaint the walls, especially when no wall was damaged. Overall, I didn't have a negative experience. Just hope they take into consideration certain things.
