  • By NO MEANS is this going to be a disappointing meal. The ambiance was outstanding. Anyone considering eating here, really should try it. Now, for starters, I am a local. When we go for steak dinner, we have ONE place that we always go to and it never fails. (God willing, it never will) The Golden Steer. For my dad's birthday, we wanted to do something different this year so we tried PRIME. While waiting for our table we sat at the bar. You can tell these guys have been working here for a while. They had a great attitude and had stories for days. When we were seated, we could't be happier. We sat in a small room to the right (most private area) and were right by the window on the water watching the fountains in full light. It was stunning. We started with the Seafood Tower. Magnificent. It was beautiful and of course delicious. Here is my complaint: they brought us a serving for three people, which there were three of us. But, if you have ordered a seafood platter before, it is not customary to serve per person because there is SO MUCH. Most places have offered to make it for a person or two less than what is in your party. Afterall, this is an appetizer. $67/person. I wish our server would have been a little more honest with us. This is something that will happen when you're on the strip. Some of the wait staff will try to take advantage of you. Especially when in fine dining and they are only going to turn their tables once or twice on a busy evening. So needless to say, we had way too big of an appetizer. For entrees we ordered the Bone-In Ribeye, and two peppercorn NY Strips. $61 for the NY and I believe $70 for the Ribeye. We got sauteed mushrooms, creamed spinach, and mashed potatoes for the sides. We also ordered some bernaise for the steaks. Yeah yeah, so I like sauce with my steak. The steaks were great. Cooked perfectly as well. But, first world problem, it just didn't melt in our mouths. It was missing that perfect tender melt in your mouth feeling that just disappears with a couple of chews. There was just something missing. They did however have a really nice char on them that left a crispy crust. The mashed potatoes though. My god. It was like a pot of melted butter. You had to eat them with a spoon. They were the best I have ever had. The sauteed mushrooms were great too. It is a wild mushroom blend fyi. The creamed spinach was okay. Nothing to write home about. Total Bill: $544 (Tip not included.) We left a $100 tip. So this was a little over $200/person. I am very happy I went. It was a memorable dinner filled with good company, lots of alcohol, and some professional pictures taken by their house photographer. (Completely unnecessary but we were drunk by this point) So if you are considering going to PRIME while you're visiting in town, do it. I am sure you won't be disappointed.
