  • I find it interesting that I wrote this review and MCN made sure to edit their yelp site and have it removed. So here it is again... The salon is a very beautiful and tranquil space. The staff is friendly and helpful, but I still left feeling disappointed by the appearance of my hair vs. the money that I spent. Foiled highlights and women's cut from a level 4 stylist, Ashley Frost;$190 before tax, tip, or any products. For this price I am used to a certain level of service, my hair to be blown out, styled, and look fabulous when I walk out the door. I felt that the color was so subtle that I really could not tell that my hair was fresh, and going from a single process all over to highlights as the stylist suggested still left me feeling as though I still had a dark line where my roots were. I am less than content with the service, and not overly impressed. My hair feels dry and my cut and color is not "wow" factor like I am used to receiving from a salon in a major city. I am not certain if conditioner was even used on my hair when it was washed out, and the assistant really struggled combing the tangles out of my long wet hair, and this really annoyed me. The stylist barely blew out my hair and didn't put any effort into styling or suggestions for something diffrent as I had asked for. Additionally, they hard sell products through the ENTIRE appointment and I saw that other reviewers noted this as well. Suggesting products is fine, but please don't shove it down my throat. They even bring all the products that they used on you to the counter with you when you pay, as if this will guilt customers into purchasing. Stop selling and start listening to your customers. Another bit that disappointed me was that my stylist really seemed to be bummed out about her life and she chatted constantly about her life through the entire appointment. I honestly would rather sit silently and read or relax rather than acting as a therapist to my stylist. When I go to the salon it is a treat to myself and a peaceful time in which I just want to zone out and relax. Keep it positive if conversation is necessary. I do not think that I will be trying this salon again. Maybe I just caught this stylist on a bad day. I am really disappointed because I just want to find a great place in this city to receive great service and gorgeous hair. I am starting to believe that Pittsburgh does not offer the service I am used to from salons on the west coast or other major metro areas. **Update. In less than three weeks since my appointment my "$200 Highlights" look the worst my hair has looked since I used a box dye on myself in highschool. My hair looks like I have 2-3 months worth of root re-growth and just looks hideous. I have had co-workers even ask me what happened to my hair!!! After styling my own hair, I discovered a large area in the front that is completely broken off, and I am very confused as to how or why my hair got so damaged from this experience. I think that the experience at this salon depends highly upon the individual stylist that you book with. In conclusion, Thank You MCN for ruining the hair that I have been growing out for three years.
