| - Stopped in on my lunch break today after searching for local alternatives to Jo-Ann and my beloved SAS. This place is amazing.
The shop is relatively small but there is an amazing selection of machines and cotton fabrics. I am a costumer so I don't often use cottons or prints, but they carry every single color of Kona cotton in existence, so I will definitely be back for that. Their selection of notions makes Jo-Ann look like the dollar store - a huge selection of needles, machine accessories, and every kind of presser foot you could hope for (sadly, as I have a Bernina machine, these won't be of much use to me, but if you have almost any other brand you're in luck). They cater mostly to quilters but there is no shortage of cool stuff you can use for other projects.
I knocked off a star since a few of the aisles were a little cluttered (everything is otherwise well organized) and the prices on some notions are not terribly competitive compared to Jo-Ann (anything Dritz brand, I recommend just getting at Jo-Ann and using coupons on - a much better deal). But, as I said, they carry a lot of things Jo-Ann doesn't.
Mostly, I'm pleased to say that I was treated very kindly by the one sales lady who greeted me. Before Sally's in Mesa closed, I stopped in only twice ever - never again after being ingored both times. I'm 23 years old so I assume being the youngest person in the store might have had something to do with it. I expected more or less the same treatment but got quite the opposite.
I wasn't able to buy anything on this trip but I look forward to doing so very soon.
