  • So I've been to a VIP Cinepolis theatre in California (while on vacation) and it was amazing and when I moved to Toronto and saw they had VIP theatres, I wanted to go. This was the first time I went to a VIP theatre in Canada - it wasn't that great of an experience - my first and last Canadian VIP experience. Wasn't horrible but not worth the VIP price. Online it says food service in the theatre is 30 min before the show and it ends when the movie starts. So in my situation my movie was scheduled for 10:30pm. Seating: comfy but still crammed in where you're close to others as you are in a regular theatre. Difference is the seats are bigger and more sofa style. Can't recline where as in the US you could recline and stay laid back and had a little table and lamp and a button you could press to get service before and during the movie. And it was way more spaced out rather than touching side by side with the rest of the viewers. Funny enough, in the cheaper/regular ticket seats you can lean back more. Service: Waitress was nice. We had a coupon for hump date so we ordered food and we got our food quickly and it was good. On the screen, at the end of pre-show it stated food service ended as it was 10:30 and time for the trailers and commercials to start. Of course there was a group of 5-6 people and a couple who decided to walk in at 10:30pm and still expect service. They served them after the finished with others who were here prior to 10:30, but because of that everyone else in the theatre had to wait for that to be done before they even started any trailers or commercials. Then finally when they started, there was about 6-8 trailers and 2 commercials. I love watching trailers but common that's excessive. I paid to watch the movie not all theses trailers. In a regular theatre there's max 6 if that. So the movie was supposed to start at 10:30pm (prob 10:40 with trailers) but the actual movie didn't play until 11pm!! So we sat there for an hour before the movie started. If someone is going to come in late for the show, it's not fair to hold up everyone else to serve them. In a regular theatre commercials and trailers take 10 minutes tops. So if I saw that in a regular theatre, the movie would have started at 10:40 not 11pm. Conclusion: I won't be going to a VIP theatre in Canada again. Just frustrating to have to wait an extra 30 min to watch a movie because other viewers came in late and the staff still served them when they could have just gone out and got food themselves instead of holding up the entire theatre of people. Watching at a regular theatre is better in my opinion. If you do travel to the US I highly suggest visited VIP Cinepolis. It's about the same price as here but well worth it!
