  • Fellow Yelp buds, I did what I could to get as much variety as my stomach could handle to reach towards the cost of my family's meal. At the same time I realized that perhaps different days at the Wynn may have won buffet aficionados, but on other days were more or less struggling to win my 5FF feat for my mom's birthday dinner. Not conforming to a pre-buffet line that could be 10 anacondas long, my parents & I arrived at about 5pm. Regardless of special occasion, to get my moola's worth for the $39.99 gourmet dinner (applies to Fri & Sat) for foods from 16 different stations, the 1st instinct that came to mind was to check on my Yelp app to see what my Yelp buddies loved or loathed. However, I guess you can blame my poorly signaled smartphone during our Friday dinner. W/o my friends' POVs from it I had to completely alternate--rather than intertwine--with my old buffet strategy by primarily choosing the edibles that typically cost close to arm-and-leg at traditional sit downs. As a result, out of 3 plates, 1 dessert platter, and 2 mini dessert shots, here's my breakdown ordered from ickiest to most glorious, with asterisks indicating Gourmet Dinner specialties explicitly listed right before the buffet entrance... Zero to 1.0 star honestly going to... -Unagi Sushi* (itsy bitsy eel & rice went down to Flavorlessville) -Kimchi (soggy, weird-tasting that if you feed this to kimchi virgins, they'll get traumatized) -Baba Ghanoush (the olive green eggplant dollop on the meat-ful plate; it's way over-pureed & shockingly bland) -A mini cupcake that may be confused w/ RVC or Chocolate (Idk, my tongue couldn't tell o_o) -Chocolate Chip Cookie (chocolate flavor was weakly detected) 1.5 to 2.0 stars are for... -Seared Red Snapper* (had the snapper flavor but too fishy aftertaste even for the fish devotee in me) -The hard Cheeses for the Charcuterie* (barely any spark) -Apple Cobbler (too syrupy) 2.5 to 3.0 stars on... -Hummus (like the eggplant counterpart it's too mushy wushy) -Clam Chowder (tasty, but saltier than expected, & soup had a pretty thin consistency that allowed the clam meat to sink easily towards the bottom of the bowl) -Pork Potsticker* -Rosemary Lamb T-Bone* (right gamey-ness, but well-done dry UNLESS you're lucky to be in front of the station guy who was about to throw in the immediately fresh & juicy morsels, hence giving it a 2nd chance on my 2nd plate) -Moroccan Spiced Lamb T-Bone* (a 'lil bit better overall with possibly the same elapsed sit down as Rosemary) -Alaskan Opilio Crab Legs* (I was quite a sucker for its O name, but despite my props on how they're vertically sliced for easy picking, the tasty meats unfortunately also had a 'lil too much of NaCl) -Tortellini Carbonara* (pretty delicious, thick & saucy ring-like pasta) -Chilled Shrimp Cocktail* -Chocolate Mousse -Prime Rib* (okay, again I give nutty props on how it's flawlessly cooked & utmost juicy for something RARE =D, but I also remembered the prime rib at both Bellagio & Studio B being overall more cow-on flavorful than Wynn's ^_^) Now, 3.5 to 4.0 towards... -Triangular slice of Pita -Brick Oven Veggie Pizza* (I was pleasantly surprised) -Scottish Smoked Salmon* -White Anchovy & Roasted Pepper Salad* (interesting) -Dark-colored Proscuitto* -Citrus Brine Roasted Turkey* (Mmm, juicy) -Veal Short Rib* (should have known to save room over the lambs -_-) -Summer Salad w/ Toasted Walnuts -Overall service (the guy at the cutting station happily made sure I got my prime rib pink-red, & our pleasant server offered me a canister amount of decaf coffee as my included drink) A 4.5 to... -Butternut Squash (the astute name says it all :D) -Beet Salad -Passionfruit Tapioca Shot And a Big, High 5, Up Top to... -Must I say it...ohh fine... http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/2weQS-RnoOBhb1KsHKyoSQ?userid=jQYIE9bjrh9EP-B5FXpqPw#HGFC_hrtzGaWov97zRhS2Q Blueberry Lemon Parfait (consistency for parfait was perfect, offered well-balanced tartness for the tart lover, & was absolutely ambrosial, hence avariciously gobbling 2 extra shots after the dessert platter) Though I'm neither an advocate nor an opponent for this Vegas dinner buffet, the 'rents--yes, the b-day lady included--had the similar look of Maroney's reaction to her silver medal, with an exception of my dad's 2nd helping of the prime rib. Nonetheless, if you need to hit this up on your Sin City must-go's, hopefully you can pull up the reviews & tips via Yelp app AND memorize/save the text messages on what your Yelp/non-Yelp friends enjoyed most to win your passionate, buffet hunger--and to please the celebrant's meal *^_^.
