Just got married at Wedgewood this past weekend and what a blast it was!!! When the wife and I first started planning and looking around for local places to have our wedding I joked about doing the Vegas wedding thing. As we contacted various places it was becoming apparent that with our small budget we wouldn't be able to have something nice. Then we stumbled on the Wedgewood's website and I joked more about how they have a Vegas location but we visited the Wedgewood in San Jose and they laid out all the information for us. After the meeting we thought that my crazy idea of having a Vegas wedding wasn't that bad at all. So we contacted the Vegas Wedgewood and set up a meeting with Elva....it was also a good reason for us to go to Vegas also! :)
So when we finally get to Wedgewood in Vegas and met with Elva. When she gave us the tour of the place, a lot of it was still under construction. The indoor ceremony room, outdoor patio and even the reception room were still being worked on. She showed us pictures of what the outdoor ceremony area would look like and gave us a tentative contract in which we could lock in our date with a deposit. There was really a lot to think about since the facilities were still being worked on. After thinking about it for the rest of the weekend we decided to have faith and put down our deposit to save our date. *phew*
Some minor bumps in the road! So we plan another trip out to Vegas again (shucks!!) this time my parents, sister and her husband coming along. This trip we would visit Wedgewood to go over some things, look at the linen samples, and do the cake tasting at Freed's Bakery. So we arrive at Wedgewood and they are in the process of building the outdoor ceremony area, which was looking pretty nice. So we go up to the offices and everything is closed. After 20 minutes of calling Wedgewood and their general number it turns out that ALL of the staff went to a training conference and no one was there. The Executive Chef for the golf course helped us out and said that he would be the one who would be cooking our dinner for the wedding. He gave us food on the house to help smooth things out. So the cake tasting at Freed's....didn't go well. My wife had called ahead to them and informed them that we would be coming and that she is allergic to chocolate. So we get there and nothing is ready. It was a disaster but I'll save that review for Freed's. Just keep in mind if you use Freed's talk to Max or go through your Wedgewood coordinator. Jayme helped us at Freed's and she was just bad.
At this point we are kind of worried about how this will turn out. Although Wedgewood has their own vendors they use we found Jim and Rowena of Glam Image Photography to be our photographers and Greg at In A Flash for our photobooth. These guys were AWESOME!!!! I'd highly recommend them to anyone!!!
So as time goes by we wrap up the final details. We do our 6 week out meeting with Megan/Kendall over the phone as well as our 1 week out chat. It's now Rehearsal time, T-minus 1 day till the big day!!! Before the rehearsal we meet with DJ Murphy so we could go over the music and how the reception will go. He came up with some fun ideas as well as a wedding elimination dance because we had several people who've been married over 30 years in attendance. Listening to him you could tell he had a game plan and he's very passionate about everyone having a good time. Afterwards we met with Kendall to go over the ceremony. She lined everyone up and we went over the ceremony.
Wedding Day!!!!!! So the big day was here! The Bridal Party arrives at 1:00 to start to get ready. My only gripe was that the Groomsmen room doesn't have anywhere to hang up stuff. We ended up hanging up stuff on the cabinet handles. DJ Murphy was good with informing people on the guest book and moving people from one room to another. Although I didn't get to try any of the hors d'oeuvres I heard they were pretty good. So DJ Murphy introduces the Bridal Party and we start the reception. For dinner we went with a duet plate with fillet Mignon and salmon. I'm not really a fish person so they gave me two filet's which was yummy. So as the night went on DJ Murphy moved things along to make sure we weren't dragging behind on things, which was actually nice because we got stuck talking to relatives I haven't seen in a long time. After all the formalities were done I think there was only 40 minutes left before the end of the reception, which was a nice chunk of time so he got everyone out on the dance floor with some cool songs and mixed things up. DJ Murphy was awesome!!!!
Overall: We had a blast as well as everyone else who attended. Anyone looking for a place to get married at would have to be crazy to not consider Wedgewood Las Vegas. We did hit a few snags along the way but when the big show was here everything fell in place and everyone had fun, which is the most important!
