  • Ok, ok... Before you go ahead and petition the League of Manly Men to either place a red mark on my Man Card or move to have it revoked altogether, just know that I wanted to see Britney Spears' show with my wife whom was the staunchest of fans. Besides, I'm already going to have some tough questions to answer at the LMM Committee Meeting this fall. Now that we've dispensed with the unpleasantries, let's move forward... As I was saying, my wife WAS a huge fan of Britney, but she had her resolve shattered when the show was cancelled last minute after we traveled to Vegas with the main purpose of seeing that show. Spears had recently injured her ankle on stage at an earlier show and was unable to perform. The cancellation was a dissappointment, but our problem lies in how the show was cancelled and what happened after that. Spears's injury was called an ankle sprain. I'm no doctor, but from my experience that usually takes 4-6 weeks to recover from, let alone an entertainer who's biggest claim to fame was her dance moves. However, the show -- which was a Wednesday show -- was not cancelled even though she injured her ankle about 1 week before we were to attend; we would have gladly cancelled and rescheduled our trip In fact, Spears' camp didn't cancel the show until the night prior (Tuesday night), knowing well most people had checked into their hotels by then. Even that wasn't as infuriating as the fact that the venue (Planet Hollywood) didn't cancel the show until the morning of. But above all else, nothing caused my wife to lose faith in Spears more than the fact she had no problems performing at the Billboard's Awards a week after our show was cancelled where she pitched a new song. To date, we still haven't received our refund for the cancelled show, nor has my poor wife had the heart to listen to even one "Oops, I Did It Again" since then. For shame...
