  • BUDGET CAR RENTAL - DISASTER!!! Where do I start? First, we reserved the car weeks ahead of time and checked on it several times because it was for an out of town trip. Day of trip: it wasn't at the location and had to be retrieved from the airport. The guy at the counter was easy breezy and casual despite our three trips to the place. "It'll be there" and it wasn't. When we finally got the car (two and a half hours after we planned to leave town) and (which had no license plate, by the way), "The time went fast!" he said. Umm, for you, jerk! The car, an upgraded convertible, and in California, lost all electrical power, and while we were driving. Fortunately the Cali people were professional and brought us another car so we didn't have to drive the death-wish car. We returned the new car to the locals at Sahara Mazda, fully loaded with gas. The locals charged us 50 bucks, however, for the less than fully-loaded gas in the death-wish car in Cali that WE COULDN'T FILL because it was not drivable. "We have to check with Cali to be sure that you didn't cause the electrical failure by loading it with diesel fuel," they said. REALLY? It was stalling repeatedly beginning at Barstow on the way out of town, before we ever got gas in the first place - before it finally fully failed during driving in California." So when we talk to headquarters in DC, they are useless. So much for a national company, We have to either dispute with our credit card company or the (idiot) locals who had given us the defective, up-charge, no license-plate, and late-in-arriving car to begin with. Not to mention the late to work on Monday because of dealing with the hassle in returning the car and the ripoff gas charge on Monday morning. Also not to mention dealing with the time on vacation getting a different car, and never an apology for having been given a dangerous car to begin with. We still haven't resolved this on Monday night, but I will NEVER deal with these lowlifes again. Go elsewhere; that's my advice. We are disputing with our credit card company. They're lucky we didn't have an accident and sue them, and they want gas money for a car they had to tow away?
