| - I honestly was in serious debate over 1 or 2 stars. But figured I'd be nice with 2.
So...I went to Caked Las Vegas, which is on the opposite side of town than where I live, but wanted to try a new cupcake place out (as Ive tried many lol) and found a groupon for them too (bonus).
I arrived to pick up a dozen cupcakes on Wed 9/17/14 about 4pm. When I arrived there was a heavier set gentleman working behind the counter, appearing to help a family pick out some kind of designs or ideas for their purchase/cake. After a few mins of standing there (as the store is not large) he finally acknowledge that I was there. While I am watching him touch different items on the counter, the ipad or something he was using and other things, I see how he DOES NOT WASH HIS HANDS or PUT ON GLOVES before helping me pick out my cupcakes.
I was a little bummed that there was only one Red Velvet cupcake left, so used my dozen on that one, couple peanut butter, couple oreo, couple black and white, a neopolitan, two strawberry, a lemon and a coconut cupcakes. Mind you this guys picks up all my cupcakes and I know that he at least touched on at one point as there was some frosting on his hand. So I'm already grossed out, but I don't want to be "that person". So I just continue to check out.
Then a younger lady comes from the back and rings me up, she was more pleasant and appeared to know more about the operations of the store, she rang me up.
So I get to my friend suprise birthday party shortly after and am really excited about all the flavors and cupcakes.
I start with the black and white...BLAH...I've never tasted cake that was so bland and without flavor. The butter cream frosting should be called SUGAR cream frosting, it too was not very good. I am not a fan of bland tasting frostings with more sugar flavor than anything else.
I thought, maybe its just this one...well I then tried the neopolitan which was equally as bland, and the frosting tasted like a bad bubble gum...then the coconut, which had possibly better cake, but it was very dry and the frosting was eh...then I tried a bite of the Strawberry as well as Oreo and again still not a fan.
Maybe I expect too much as Ive tasted many other places and their delicious flavors and frostings, but this place not only didn't taste well, but the POOR handling of the food was gross, almost a health hazard. I have my health card and even I know you need to wash your hands or put gloves on when working with food items.
