It is really complicated review for myself. I have been a regular to Aria for almost 6 years now. What has been consistent about the place during those 6 year is simply how inconsistent the food is. Sometimes is great, sometimes is okay at best. Aria is not by any mean the best italian spot in Charlotte, but it is definitely one of the best despite their cons.
First, the decor is really great and cozy. The acoustic shows by local artists over the weekends totally makes a good atmosphere.
Second, since renovation, the place started to be overcrowded sometimes, which slow down the service, and definitely reduced the quality.
Third, the menu is well made. It is classic italian menu, with an interesting spin on some dishes. I am not going to review the food since it is very subjective to personal taste especially when it comes to italian cuisine, but for what it worth, overall the food is good, and you can clearly taste the quality of their ingredients. Any Wow factor? No really, but It is good enough after all.
You should try Aria at least once. If not for the food, just go for their bar menu/small plates as they will not disappointment you. As many have mentioned, service could be slow over the weekend, so I'd recommend visiting mid week, or during lunch hour.
Last thing, I truly love Aria, and I hope the owner/chef would take the reviews here seriously. The are many downsides that could be fixed if the ownership paid attention.
