  • Finding a good and HONEST mechanic (or shop) is like striking gold. I first met Dan (owner) when he was the owner and manager of the Big O Tire shop in Surprise. I took my wife's car to that particular Big O shop for a tire repair due to the fact that his shop had such great reviews (if it is still on here, check out the reviews for his former shop - the Big O Tire at Bell & Grand in Surprise) . I was immediately impressed with Dan's personal-level customer service. I noticed that most of the people coming into the shop were on a first-name-basis with Dan and the employees, which told me that he had a lot of repeat business (which means satisfied customers). I became one of those satisfied customers myself. A couple of years ago, the Big O tire shop closed, but fortunately for me Dan opened a much smaller auto repair shop in Sun City... King Automotive Repair. I have had all three of our cars in his shop for various work ranging from routine oil changes, to brakes, coolant, suspension etc. As a repeat customer, I've been VERY impressed each and every time I visit his shop. Typically I meet other customers who are as trilled with their service as I am. On many occasions I've seen them pass on opportunities to make "easy money" in favor of giving the vehicle's owner the type of honest advice they would give their own family members. For me, this morning was just one such day - as I suspected that I possibly had a coolant leak in my wife's Saab 9-3 convertible. After pressure checking the coolant lines, no leaks were found or detected and everything looks solid. When I asked when I owed for the diagnostic work, Dan explained "Nah I'm not going to charge for something like that - the great news is there's nothing wrong with the car!" So I was out the door for the price of a handshake. This shop continually impresses me, which compelled me to write this review. I think Dan (and the guys) realize that a business can be run successfully by following the golden rule. People as smart as these guys realize that when they treat you honestly and with respect when you come in for a $30 service job, you will remember them and bring your car to them when you need the more serious work done. I am always excited to refer friends over to King Automotive Repair. If I could give six stars, I would. Like I said - finding a good and honest mechanic is like finding gold. I struck gold with King Automotive Repair. - Cory, El Mirage, AZ
