I have shopped at Cyclepath Oakville a few times as I visit and spend summers in the Oakville area and do a lot of biking there. I have found the service okay, nothing special but acceptable. Nobody goes out of his/her way to do anything but show you where items are located and what is on sale. Nobody answers questions about the different types of clothing, for example. On that basis, I would rate them 2.5 stars.
But, on May 24, I went in to try to find a fanny pack and plastic map holder. The young man who waited on me could not have been less helpful and was extremely snotty:
- He said: "I didn't even know they still make fanny packs. I have one in my basement and could sell you that one."
- He said: "Why would anyone want a plastic map holder? My generation only uses electronic devices. Why don't you look at a Garmin."
I told him that sometimes one bikes where GPS signals are not available and that I would not shop at Cyclepath anymore. He could have cared less.
I will take my business elsewhere (e.g., Gears or Oakville Cycle & Sports).
BTW, I found both items at Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC) in Burlington and one of the items at Hikers Haven.
