My daughter is 11 and needed her ingrown toenail removed. We had our consultation and it was explained that Dr. Levine can remove it and cauterize the nail and in 3 days it will be fine for swimming ect. (We had plans for a pool day and a family vacation a week later.) I thought it was infected and so did my husband. There was no explanation that it would be any different if there was infection present. 2 days later we went in for the procedure and I felt that Dr. Levine had no bedside manner, especially with an 11 yr old girl who is terrified about this needle and whole procedure she is about to go through. He did NOT use the "cold spray" that I now have heard is always used before the needle and from what I saw he was so aggressive with the needle I was extremely uncomfortable. She was screaming and crying and he showed no sympathy. My daughters foot was black and blue for a week after. Also, after the needle he comes in and looks at her toe and says he can't cauterize because its infected. We would have put off this procedure until she had a good 2 weeks without pool and vacations planned. It was the first week of summer break. I was not going to put her through that numbing process again so we continued with the procedure and purchased the "faster healing kit" for $40. Thats fine, I had no problem buying that. But it would have been nice if he talked about the infection situation the first 2 times he saw the toe. My daughter was in such pain from the needles, not the actual toe after. I will never go back to this office and am deeply unsatisfied with the whole procedure he did.
