  • The Great Dane seems to be one of those places you stumble upon while on vacation and you say to yourself, "I want something like this place close to my town". It is in an older building (Downtown Madison location) and the service was excellent. First off the beer is really very tasty. My brother in law had the Scottish, I had the Crop Circle Wheat and the specialty Whit (I think it was passion fruit but I can't remember) just get the whit! All the beer was great. The menu is so very good that I truly believe you could literally close your eyes and point and you would love it. I had the Cuban, I was very happy with the Cuban. My Sister in law had the tandoori chicken and liked it as well. Fried cheese curds were superb. And pretzel sticks were awesome. You seriously will not believe this but the show stopper was the mustard that they serve with the pretzels. A coarse ground spicy brown with a kick and a cranberry mustard that you feel like you died and went to heaven. Yes, I said cranberry mustard, and I am not a cranberry fan either! Go here, don't forget to get a 6-pack to go also!
