| - I stayed here 2 years ago for the Rock & Roll Marathon. In all of my years of visiting Vegas, I had not gotten around to staying here. I probably should have stayed in it's heyday because it's a very run down hotel these days. My husband had comps from Caesars Total Rewards Program so we thought we'd take advantage of them. However, be advised that although this was considered a "comp" visit, Caesars still charges for the resort fee (per night) unless you're a diamond cardholder, which my husband is not.
Our room looked like something straight out of the 80's. I felt like I had been in a time machine and got dropped off here. The room was so old and dingy. Couch cushions were misshapen and decor was very dated. TV was an older model too.I felt grungy the whole time I was there. Only Pro was that the room was large.. not even sure that this can be rightfully considered a pro because the square footage was decked out in dust!
The biggest problem I had was cold water in the shower for our entire stay. Maybe the put us in the room that they did because it was "comped"? Whatever the reason, I wasn't happy about this. I asked to be assigned to a new room. They said they couldn't accommodate us so they offered to have a tech come in to fix the issue but gave me like a 4 hr window. I reminded the front desk person who told me this nonsense that I'm on vacation and I don't have that kind of time to wait and asked to speak to someone in management, then suddenly, he informs me that he'd have someone come up right away. 20 minutes later, this guy shows up.. nice guy but at the end of the day, problem wasn't fixed. Basically his advice was to leave water running until it warmed up. I knew this would be a long stay but not in a good way. Also, his advice didn't hold water- we still had to endure cold showers. Fortunately, the weather was decently warm, but still.. I don't do cold showers.
Comp or not, this was all some BS to me. Had we paid full price, I would have taken my business elsewhere. I am considering ending my relationship with Caesars (I'm a cardholder too) because I just found out that they are upping the resort fees, with the exception of this run down hovel. I've also read a review here on Yelp stating that they no longer offer shuttle service to the strip- another reason to ditch this place. Food is expensive, slot selection poor, poor service, shabby rooms in every way, many reports of bed bugs and contaminated water that caused illnesses to patrons. My advice is to stay away! No pros, even on an alleged comp stay!
