| - This review is "to be continued"...but I wanted to start my review before I forget anything. It's St Patrick's Day, my oven is out, and we have a party to go to tonight! I searched for bakeries in my area and Retro came up, I called them and asked if they had flavors that I was interested in, they did, so I jumped in the car and race down there.
Pros:
Cute shop, friendly staff, creative flavors.
I miss understood the website, and that they had mini cupcakes available also, but they are on special request. I decided to get 2 dozen cupcakes, 6 of each:
Salted caramel, Hop scotch, Mint chocolate chip, and the St Pattys vanilla with mint butter cream. They only had 5 of the caramel (bummed) so we threw in a loner (can't remember what flavor.)
Cons:
From the photo you can see that they are not even. I bake a lot, and make sure things are beautiful for my guests. When I have bought in the past, food looks professional. @ $30 a dozen I expect beauty and good flavor. I got home to set up my trays, and was upset when I open the boxes and saw how sloppy the frosting job was on each of them. In the display case the frosting was all faced forward so they all look the same. But when I got home the frosting was half hanging off of some of the cupcakes. I don't know any kids, or adults that would go up to a tray of desserts and say to themselves "oooh! I want the one with the frosting falling off!" I love unique shops, try to support them, but...
So this is "to be continued", I'll let you know if everyone thinks they're yummy!
