After a long awaited and long anticipated opening of the Thornhill Pub what a disapppointment. This was my first, and probably my last visit, to this new pub.
First, we waited nearly 15 minutes to get a server to our table. I had to call the hostess over when she was seating another couple. I suggested that either someone could serve me or I'd leave. A waitress arrived immediately.
The menu is very limited, not sure if there were any specials as we were never told. I thought the prices seemed high but decided to wait until the food arrived to make a judgement. I ordered the Thornhill Pub burger and my wife ordered the chicken burger. I requested no pickle. It took quite awhile until our beers arrived and what seemed like an enternity for our meals to arrive. The food arrived and we noticed that neither of us got a pickle, good for me but not for my partner. The plate comes with a burger, fries and a small salad. What I don't understand is how you justice $18 for a burger that is just ordinary at best. The chicken burger wasn't even truly a burger, more pieces of chicken shoved in a bun with some toppings, cheese wasn't even melted. The chicken kept falling out of the bun so most of it was picked off the plate. The waitress didn't come by our table again to check how our meal was.
I don't know if there is anyone managing the place but if there is their presence is non-existent. You would think that in a place that has been open only 2 weeks as manager you would be very visible, especially in a place that obviously is struggling. Perhaps the manager could try managing the staff. During our time in the pub most of the staff seemed to congregate at a table near to kitchen to chat.
Someone would have to tell me there have been significant improvements in service and food before I'd venture into this pub again. Extremely disappointed, what a wasted opportunity Thornhill Pub.
