| - I came to this store based on all of the reviews and was pleasantly surprised at just how accurate they all are. None are over-exaggerated, promise. Stop by and go see for yourself!
By far, this is THE BEST fish store in Vegas. Period. None come close in any and all aspects of this industry. They've only been open for 2 years and already have secured their spot as #1 in the city.
*overview*
Immaculate customer service, friendly smiles, eager to assist all in any way- this is what I like to see in pet shops, or any other store for that matter. It wasn't the typical setup where you have to hunt down someone for assistance or are stuck with one employee who isn't very educated about the fish that are being sold or their upkeep. Before leaving this shop, I was educated on the behavior, temperament, diet, and water needs of the fish I was interested in purchasing.
Note: IT IS IMPORTANT TO BRING IN A SAMPLE OF THE WATER IN THE TANK YOU HAVE AND ARE PLANNING TO PLACE YOUR NEWLY PURCHASED FISH IN.
If this is your first time at the store, you will receive 10% off of your purchase along with a little goodie bag to take home with you.
*cleanliness*
This place is absolutely superb. It's a wide open space with all tanks clearly displayed. For the most part, it was very clean. When you first walk in, the smell of salt water isn't offensive, but kind of refreshing. The floor could've used a bit of mopping and polishing, but it wasn't really dirty. I'm just being picky. Cleanliness in establishments selling animals, food, etc., is an extremely important quality to me.
I did, however, admire the cleanliness at the cash register. I know it seems minor, but an employee (John, I believe?) saw a smudge on the counter the same time I did and immediately wiped it up with a towel and some cleaning solution.
Quite a few tanks I came across with smaller fish had at least two dead ones floating at the top or buried in the sand. I would like it if this were more closely monitored and the dead fish were taken out immediately. An hourly routine check of each tank could easily solve this issue. Otherwise, it was generally clean on the inside. The tanks could use some cleaning with Windex on the outside, but I understand that it can be hard to keep each one clean with the lingering fingers of children.
*safety*
While on the subject of children, I advise keeping them extremely close in this store. All tanks are open at the top- even the ones lower to the ground. I could see how extremely easy it would be for curious little hands to wander into the wrong places, making their setup a bit of a safety hazard. I definitely think they'd benefit from investing in at least a mesh top for all tanks with the exception of the giant stingray tank in the back.
*my experience*
The staff are very knowledgable, honest, and helpful. I was eager to buy a Niger Trigger for my older cousin, so I drove 30 miles to this shop. With intentions to surprise my cousin with the fish for his birthday today, I came down to the shop to pick one up. Sadly, they only had one Niger Trigger left and the poor little guy had a bubble eye from the trauma of being transported to a new tank. I was informed that he could contaminate other fish and would eventually lose that eye completely :( ANYONE WITH A SALT WATER TANK FOR A SINGLE FISH, GO RESCUE THE LITTLE GUY!!!
Anyways, the manager and employees were all extremely helpful with the situation and made an amazing recommendation. We eventually came to the solution of me purchasing a gift card for my cousin, so he can go to the shop and pick out a Trigger himself when they receive a new shipment.
My mother liked what she saw as well, so we'll definitely be back to this store.
