  • Public libraries are the greatest invention since fire. If you haven't visited one lately then you are seriously missing out. I've raised my kids to crave long visits to the library and so far it has served me well. I can pretend to be a good parent while finding myself a great book to read or wonderful movie to watch. Like many other public libraries in the area, the Parma Snow branch has recently undergone a massive renovation. Your tax dollars have created a seriously awesome resource in the community. It's one of the few things I don't mind my tax dollars being spent on. The main building is a sprawling cornucopia of media. It's a modern library with a very extensive collection of movies, books, audiobooks, magazines, computers, and heck, even toys you can borrow. This location doesn't have the selection of the Parma main branch but it is better than what you'll find in most cities local branches. It really is a stellar library! People don't believe me when I tell them I borrow brand new release DVDs and Blurays a day or two after they come out. They're often available in the library before you can get them at Redbox. Popular new books are also available here with multiple copies available. Lesser known books are sometimes much harder to locate in the library system but if it is available you can have it shipped to your local branch for free. This library also has a fantastic study area. They have small group study rooms as well as multiple public quiet study areas which are fantastic for students or "working from home." Also, if you for some reason don't have the internet at home, you can borrow time on one of their many desktop computers. Printing and copying is also cheaper here than it is at Staples. The only unfortunate thing about the public library is that since everything is free, there is a fairly large homeless population that takes advantage of the facilities. Smells and dirtiness abound. With that said, I suppose there are worse things the homeless population could be doing with their time. Oh, and there's free WiFi.
