  • Can I just say that I am continually impressed by the food here at Las Vegas Mini Gran Prix? Reasonably priced and a great bargain considering the quality of the food itself. The pizza is more lovingly handled than 98% of the dedicated Pizza Joints here in Vegas, and I'm talking attention-to-detail down to the custom 5-cheese blend to the they-literally-invented-a-special-pizza-serving-pan so that their crusty crust STAYS CRISPY. Because my Fat Girl Nation wants the down-low, the crust is chewy like good pizza HAS to be, with a delicicate crumb and a buttery sour-dough-i-ness I have just discovered is essential to Amazing Pizza. The sauce is savory while being just sweet enough to dance a little counterpoint to the tang of the crust. They don't skimp on toppings OR cheese, so I'd be leary of ordering more than 4 toppings and definitely wouldn't order EXTRA cheese right out of the gate. While not the wafer-tortilla thinness of a true New York style pie, LVMGP's kitchen is absolutely pulling this crust a lot thinner than a traditional hand-tossed in this town, to the betterment of the entire experience. Now, on to the Other Things. The wings are a solid 9 out of 10, and I'm literally only taking a point off since they do NOT have a crazy-stupid-hot option that I know so many people crave. For me, personally, they are a 10 - I'm not sure how exactly they get the meat SO tender and juicy AND the outside so crispy with no deep fryer. Sous-vide to hold and then through the pizza oven? I dunno, but I am impressed. Like, too overwhelmed and mouth-watered to take a pic. The boneless ribs. Stop what you are doing and get here now (run-don't-walk) for these things. They don't have a smoker that I'm aware of, but they are hearty slabs of unbelievably tender meat in a very balance sweet-n-spicy sauce, with the perfect amount of char. CHAR people. No grill, no smoker, and you'd never know it. Think your pit-master uncle deciding to make chubby chicken fingers out of pork, and that's what's waiting for you here. FULL DISCLOSURE - LVMGP IS A CLIENT OF BIZNIFICATION, but those of you who know me know that I would never allow that relationship to sway my opinions or evaluation of the food. All that being said, it really bothers me when I see people complaining online about the quality of the food. I honestly believe that it's a matter of White Linen Bias - you remember those commercials where they'd serve Pizza Hut or Taco Bell in a fancy, hoity-toity, $100-a-plate type restaurant and people would go on and on about the nuances of the spice palette and the brightness the fresh herbs bring to the dish, and then SURPRISE! It's Pizza Hut? The same thing happens in reverse - nobody expects a place like this, a go kart/carnival/arcade mashup to have good food, let alone GREAT food. Don't make that mistake - plus, go karts make EVERYTHING taste better!
