| - The idea of chicken and waffles never really enticed me...until I had the opportunity to sample this combo at Parlay Gastropub (LI spot for those reading this who happen to live in Vegas). Just understand it became a concept I was open to...and then there was Bruxie which took things to another level.
Like, when I say another level I mean the top of the Stratosphere kind of level. Why not take thin, crispy waffles and fold them over to make chicken sandwiches? Why not fill them with crazy ingredients? Why didn't I think of this? Well I'm glad somebody did!
Bruxie, located in The Park on the side of New York New York, is something contemporary and cool enough to easily be found in the actual NYC (I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up there soon). I needed breakfast so what do I do? Yelp! Waffles? Chicken? Okay, that'll do.
But when I get there I don't just get chicken and waffles, no no no. At Bruxie things get interesting (in a good way). Holy chicken! That's the name of my breakfast-ish choice and it lived up to that name. Maple glazed chicken, applewood smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, Sriracha mayo, and a sunny side up egg.
Honestly, words can't describe this thing. Okay, I'll try to use words: Sweet. Savory. Spicy. Sexy (wait, maybe not that last one....or maybe.....). Anyway, it's just everything you want when you think of chicken and waffles. Add in some waffle fries (clever) and their own brewed coffee and you'll end up with a meal that'll do you in for the day.
Overall, I'll be thinking (dreaming?) about Bruxie for quite some time. The creative and amazing tastes they concoct (and their employees were a class act too) make this place a must. Yeah, I know there are 5-star restaurants and gourmet chefs aplenty, but go to Bruxie. Just do it and be ready for something you won't soon forget.
