| - If it was possible to give this apartment complex negative stars, I would.
BEWARE OF THE ILLUSION THIS PLACE PORTRAYS FROM THE OUTSIDE.
Aside from the amount of break-ins and crime rates, you will be dealing with unhelpful office staff, lousy maintenance workers and a complete lack of security.
First: NO SECURITY & CRIME RATES.
One of the many things that drew us into this place was the security post at the front gate. HAH. Never once saw any security officer working there. About 4 months into our lease they happened to leave the door open into the security post and it was filled with STORAGE BOXES. If you want a good laugh, I dare you to ask them about it.
On a separate occasion, my boyfriend witnessed someone trying to break in to our neighbors apartment. The crook was startled and ran off, so we instantly called the Peccole Ranch security dispatch (one of the many "perks" they use to reel you in) and waited outside for 30mins for them to arrive until we got fed up and went to sleep. They NEVER SHOWED. When we called the next day to ask the office why we were stood up by security, they told us that they have "under cover security patrolling the grounds at any given time."
...Really? Do they hang out in the storage closet you call a security post?
Second: UNHELPFUL & DISCOURTEOUS STAFF.
The following event happened today not even 2 hours ago...
I was enjoying my Saturday off of work catching up on my favorite TV shows when all of a sudden I hear a loud buzzing. I turn off the television and follow the noise to my kitchen, where I see a bee on the inside of my window. I'm allergic to their sting, but I thought 'Okay, 1 bee is no big deal.' Then I saw another. And another. As I'm trying to process a plan to extinguish them, 2 more fall at my feet FROM THE CEILING AIR VENT. At this point there were 5 flying around my apartment so I grab my phone and run into the master bedroom where I close the vents and cover the space under the door.
I called the front office to report my pest emergency. She said she would get ahold of their pest guy and call me back. 5 mins later I get the response, "Our pest guy is in Henderson, and cannot make it for about 30-40mins. Ok?"
I think to myself, 'OK?!? Is that a JOKE?!?'
So I attempt to stay calm and ask, "Is there ANYthing else that can be done from now until then?" Her answer was, and I quote, "Well... He's in HENDERSON... Sooo... I don't know what you want us to do for you."
Maintenance shows up in the meantime with nothing except the audacity to tell me, "There's no way for the bees to come through the air vents because the vents are all internal." Pretty much telling me I'm a liar and/or crazy person.
Luckily, the pest guy shows up and CONFIRMS that bees were in fact coming in and out of the vent to the building's chimney... Which can UNDOUBTEDLY connect to the vents if there is any type of crack or hole.
During the entire time I was waiting I kept trying to reach the office line, but silly me, their lunch break is much more important then the well-being of their tenants.
I'm a pretty logical person; I know it wasn't their intension or fault for bees to invade my home. BUT, and I say this with years of customer service experience, THERE IS A RIGHT WAY AND A WRONG WAY TO TREAT PEOPLE. Camden Del Mar's office staff consistently chooses the WRONG way. If you call the 1-800 number, you won't be reaching Camden Del Mar's ACTUAL front office, you'll be reaching their call center, which is unfortunate because the call center staff are typically wonderful to speak to... Don't expect that helpfulness or kindness to transfer over.
The ONLY pro to Camden Del Mar apartments are the spacious layouts. But trust me when I tell you, a nice layout DOES NOT compensate for the amount of BS you'll have to deal with as a tenant.
Save yourself the trouble. Find a place you can actually feel SAFE and HAPPY to call your home.
