  • I wasn't expecting much more than what I found at the Mint, but it was fun to go and check it out. It's a small strip mall bar with an inviting bar in the center. We went on a Monday around 2pm so it was understandably slow but the bartender was great and informative. They were playing a Breaking Bad marathon on the TV which was fun. The bartender told us they'd been under new management since September but the decor was still a little lacking. They had some good ideas started with some old fashioned furniture in the corners and a great ceiling. However, the walls were pretty bare with an industrial feel and the main window was blacked out. We ordered a couple beers while we gambled and talked to the other patrons (the bar does lend itself to intimacy and meeting your neighbors). Beers were $6 draft which seemed a little high compared to competitors. We were shown the "lounge" area which currently looks like an overflow catering space or something. We overheard they're doing entertainment on certain nights but I imagine that might be awkward with the separate bar and lounge areas. There's also no food served in the bar but that's alright. I think the bar has a lot of potential and will draw a lot of people based on the sign alone but the inside needs to step it up to keep them coming. If the Mint was an old-time Vegas casino maybe they go for that ambiance, or a woody, cozy "tavern" vibe. Either way I suggest waiting a bit longer to check this place out while they get everything sorted.
