We went out on the BrewBoat as a team outing from work on a perfect summer day in CLE. It's a fun and unique experience and I loved seeing not just the Cleveland skyline, but also parts of the river that you don't normally see from the East or West Bank of the flats. The experience is very laid back and when everyone predictably stopped pedaling to take pictures and check out the sights, they have a motor to keep things moving.
The reason I give the experience 3 stars is that they allow smoking on the boat, which is not made clear on the website FAQs. We were paired with a group that smoked the whole ride, which drastically took away from our experience. When we boarded we even asked their policy and they stated that smokers sit at the back of the boat so the smoke is carried downwind. Wind is a bit irrelevant when you're puttering through the river at the rate of speed we were and have nowhere to escape. Not only that, the captain himself was smoking. I realize a brewboat isn't exactly corporate America, but I would expect more professionalism and respect for paying customers trying to enjoy a beautiful day outside on the water. Unacceptable in my opinion.
