My serpentine belt happened to break next to the garage two days before Christmas. Knowing it would be a bit more to have this garage replace it, I was willing to pay so I could have my car. They gave me the estimate...geez. Next, they wanted to check the pulley wheels to see if any of them had seized up causing the belt to break...okay, understandable. It was one of the tension pulley. My issue is they wanted to replace the pulley assembly for quite the escalated price stating that there were wires and and such to deal with. Yeah....no. Needless to say, I had my car towed to my garage, and waited the extra couple of days for them to get it in, I paid less than half of what Firestone wanted and they only fixed what needed to be fixed.
Fortunately, I had four brothers that I paid attention to when they worked on their vehicles growing up. The fact of the matter is that I hate these type of garages that try to take advantage and gouge people, especially trying to fix something that isn't broken.
